Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project scientists and provide technical expertise.
- Lead multiple research projects and mentor graduate and undergraduate interns.
- Contribute to planning future scientific initiatives.
- Publish research findings and present at conferences.
- Participate in customer reviews and independent project milestone reviews.
Qualifications
- Education: PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
- Experience: Strong background in microscopy, spectroscopy, experimental techniques, and data analysis. Hands-on experience in electron microscopy, materials characterization, and organic/polymer synthesis preferred. Familiarity with space-based research protocols is a plus. Candidate must be open to training in analytical, numerical, simulation, and data analysis methods.
- Other: Be a team player. Be a self-starter. Have a willingness to learn and collaborate with other scientists. Be curious and open to working on interdisciplinary subjects. Have strong verbal and written communication skills. Have experience with documenting studies through presentations or written peer-reviewed publications.
Working Conditions
This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

The work location for this effort will be onsite at NASA GRC, at the GEARS facility, and, potentially, via telecommuting. Work location for any given period will be based on meeting order requirements effectively.
