About the role
You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the Unmanned Technologies Branch, Unmanned Oceanography Division, Oceanographic Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, develop, and lead a variety of projects in direct support of unmanned systems and Division functions.
- Conceptualize, develop, implement and document new technologies, capabilities, or enhancements to unmanned oceanographic operations, processing, and integration of new capabilities.
- Prepare technical and project planning documents and analysis in support of the transitioning emerging technologies and capabilities into the operational environment.
- Develop resource projections and submissions in support of required technology transitions, operations and maintenance.
- Develop and conduct tests of new hardware and software technologies that are developed or delivered and integrated into the Division.
- Serve as a Branch representative on scientific and technical panels.
- Interface with internal and external civilian and military personnel of all ranks.
Requirements

- Experience in leading software and information technology efforts and designing complex scientific and technical systems.
- Experience coordinating, developing, and leading a variety of software-intensive projects, including but not limited to conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and documenting new technologies.
- Experience in providing technical operations support, logistics, and advanced data analysis.
- Experience providing formal documentation and training.
- Experience developing and conducting tests of new hardware and software; and implementing procedures to assimilate, process, and analyze complex data.
- Experience serving as a point of contact for coordination related to scientific and technical capabilities.
Qualifications
- In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience in leading software and information technology efforts and designing complex scientific and technical systems.
- Experience coordinating, developing, and leading a variety of software-intensive projects, including but not limited to conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and documenting new technologies.
- Experience in providing technical operations support, logistics, and advanced data analysis.
