About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist with expertise in cell-based assays for CAR T cell therapy. As a key member of our research and development team, you will play a crucial role in advancing the field of cellular immunotherapy by developing in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo assays to contribute to enhancing the safety and efficacy of CAR T cells in preclinical settings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research that has the potential to revolutionize treatment for autoimmune disease patients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hands-on laboratory experiments following established protocols to maintain, expand, bank, and manage various cell lines and generate CAR T cells.
  • Perform and validate cytotoxicity and flow cytometry assays.
  • Perform and validate ELISpot, ELISA, Luminex, MSD, or other assays as needed.
  • Perform lab-associated tasks in accordance with Cabaletta Bio lab safety policies and SOPs.
  • Oversee in vivo mouse studies and perform related ex vivo assays as needed.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of laboratory equipment and workspaces.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized records and electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Analyze experimental data using basic statistical methods and software tools.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, actively participating in team meetings and discussions.
  • Communicate experimental results and findings effectively to colleagues and supervisors through written reports and oral presentations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field with 0-2 years of experience, or Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques.
  • General lab skills, including aseptic techniques and human tissue handling.
  • Prior experience and high proficiency in mammalian cell culture (aseptic techniques).
  • Experience in primary cell husbandry, cytotoxicity assays, and flow cytometry.
  • Prior involvement in animal studies or hands-on animal handling (advantageous).
  • Highly organized and able to work independently.
  • A high level of flexibility to support various activities and the ability to learn new techniques outside of existing expertise.
  • Strong team orientation and passion for continuous self-development.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow protocols accurately.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to share experimental findings and collaborate with team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience with primary immune cell cultures and assays.
  • Experience working in a research or industry setting related to immunology and/or cell therapy.
  • Experience in industry or in a startup industrial setting.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to innovative research in the field of CAR T cell therapy.
