About the role

The Wisconsin Reading Center provides core imaging lab support to multicenter clinical trials. This position serves as a main point of contact and liaison with internal and external stakeholders, assisting with the identification of research problems and the development of research methodologies and procedures. The incumbent will attend and assist with scholarly events and presentations to support continued professional development and the dissemination of research information.

Responsibilities

• Develop Grading Methods: Support research program managers and graders in scientific aspects of grading, serving as a subject matter expert in image evaluation methods.
• Biomarker Research: Collaborate with NIH and industry partners to identify novel imaging features predictive of disease progression or prognosis and design clinical studies to quantify these features.
• Liaison with Study Sponsors: Assist in developing study protocols and statistical analysis plans for clinical trials, communicating the reading center’s workflow, evaluation procedures, and imaging outcomes.
• Grant Applications: Participate in developing grant applications to secure research funding and conduct literature reviews to prepare reports and disseminate information.
• Research Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and document research data, conduct experiments, and interviews, following established policies and procedures under general supervision.
• Writing Proposals: Write or assist in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding.
• Dissemination of Results: Develop PowerPoint presentations to describe research and associated results, participate in national and international meetings to disseminate findings, and assist faculty in mentoring research students.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Experience in Clinical Research
• Experience working with image-based datasets or data analysis
• Experience in ophthalmic/retinal imaging
• Terminal degree in relevant field such as medicine, vision science, biomedical science, public health or related discipline and includes MD, PhD, OD, MPH or equivalent required (includes MBBS and DNB).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in clinical ophthalmology
• Experience in publications and conference presentations
• Experience in Age-related Macular Degeneration

Qualifications

Education: Terminal degree in relevant field such as medicine, vision science, biomedical science, public health or related discipline and includes MD, PhD, OD, MPH or equivalent required (includes MBBS and DNB).

Skills

Skills in clinical research, image-based datasets or data analysis, ophthalmic/retinal imaging, and relevant academic fields are essential. Proficiency in writing grant applications, conducting literature reviews, and preparing reports is also required.

Pay

The starting salary/hourly wage for the position is $61,087 but negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

The position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. Travel expectations include occasional night and weekend events, with the requirement to come to Madison, WI.
