Location: Seattle, WA or Portland, OR. Remote work with extensive travel (50–75% including nights and weekends; 3+ overnight stays per week). Territory coverage may be adjusted post-hire. Mars does not sponsor visas for this role and relocation benefits are not available.

About the role

The Royal Canin Scientific Services Veterinarian (SSV) elevates the brand by influencing diet recommendations through expert training, education, partnership, and support. Internally, SSVs collaborate with stakeholders to drive initiatives for the Therapeutic Business Unit. Externally, they engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and veterinary professionals to enhance Royal Canin’s reputation, increase brand recommendations, and expand market share within veterinary hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with field sales teams to educate key recommenders, driving increased recommendations, market share, and sales growth.
  • Cultivate relationships with specialty referral hospitals to expand nutrition category sales in surrounding general practices.
  • Support strategic accounts by building relationships with regional medical leadership and participating in high-impact events.
  • Develop and nurture a network of Key Opinion Leader (KOL) advocates and potential speakers within the territory.
  • Deliver best-in-class Royal Canin nutrition education to veterinarians, technicians, and hospital staff.
  • Contribute to business growth through collaboration and joint business planning with regional and strategic account sales teams.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource, providing expert support and guidance.
  • Represent Royal Canin at key veterinary conferences and events to enhance brand presence.
  • Provide expert nutritional case consultations to support veterinary partners and clients.
  • Manage territory coverage, anticipating travel 3–4 days per week with one day allocated for remote work.
  • Support field-based teams through local and air travel as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) with an active license in at least one state.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a veterinary practitioner, including internships, co-ops, or residency, with a preference for small or companion animal practice.
  • Exceptional scientific communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage travel arrangements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75% of the time), including nights and weekends, with eligibility for a company vehicle.

Pay

USD 119,040.00 – USD 163,680.00 base pay range at commencement of employment. Total compensation may include variable pay and general allowances, depending on the position and work schedule.
