Scientific Photographer

About the role

The Scientific Photographer III supports the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. This position captures still photography and video of a variety of flight hardware, engineering tests, personnel, and other subjects and events of importance to NASA's human space flight effort.

Responsibilities

• Award ceremonies, visiting dignitaries, educational events and NASA special events.
• Engineering & hardware photo and video documentation.
• Official portraits in controlled lighting/studio environment.
• Working with video cameras and providing video shoots of meetings and activities.
• Professional photography and lighting for production shoots.
• Time-lapse and 360VR photography & video.
• Consultation and art direction to customers.
• Develop procedures and methods for image capture.
• Work with imaging workstation computers, laptops, Windows Enterprise, Apple Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite, Hasselblad Phocus, Photo Mechanic and other image related software.

Requirements

• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and have a current valid U.S. passport.
• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in photography/video or related imaging field from an accredited University or Technical Institute.
• Ability to work under various conditions, including in the studio, in engineering labs, outdoors, in confined spaces, high platform locations, in environments requiring respirator protection or air-breathing systems, on remote field locations, aboard various NASA vehicles, helicopters, and field locations.
• Team responsibilities include assisting other photographers, contributing to team projects, assisting with office duties including project planning, scheduling, equipment maintenance and inventory.

Skills

Proficiency with multiple camera systems, Speedotron Black Line lighting systems, Profoto, Nikon Speedlights, Nila LED lights, Lite Panel LED lights, Nanlites and various lighting accessories.
