About the role

Join the engine of Sanofi’s mission — where deep immunoscience meets bold, AI-powered research. In R&D, you’ll drive breakthroughs that could turn the impossible into possible for millions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Shape scientific strategy, evaluate internal and external capabilities, and apply deep scientific judgement to advance CMC across development, scale-up, tech transfer, and Manufacturing Sciences.
  • Provide expert leadership on how advanced digital, computational, and AI approaches can accelerate CMC development, improve process understanding and control, strengthen robustness and decision-making, and increase probability of success across the product lifecycle.
  • Advise senior leaders and corporate management on emerging scientific and technological advances, strategic opportunities, and differentiated approaches in AI-enabled CMC spanning both small and large molecule modalities where relevant.
  • Define scientific strategies and practical tactics that support company ambitions in AI-enabled CMC, including assessing emerging methods, platforms, partnerships, and external innovations for scientific quality, strategic relevance, and potential impact across process development, formulation, analytical sciences, process modeling, scale-up, tech transfer, manufacturing process monitoring, process robustness, and data-driven process optimization.
  • Work at the interface of R&D CMC teams and partner closely with scale-up, tech transfer, and Manufacturing Sciences organizations to help identify opportunities where advanced analytics, modeling, automation, and AI can improve speed, reliability, and knowledge transfer across development and manufacturing.
  • Establish and maintain a national and international reputation as a thought leader through high-impact publications, patents, productive scientific collaborations, invited speaking engagements, conference participation, and other visible contributions to the scientific community.
  • Operate as a highly independent senior scientific leader without direct line management responsibility, while exerting broad influence across a matrixed organization.

About You

  • Ph.D. in chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, computational science, data science, machine learning, or a related scientific discipline, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in academia, biotech, technology, pharma, or a manufacturing-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated success in AI, computational tools, and CMC-related scientific innovation, along with a strong track record of advising senior leaders, evaluating emerging scientific capabilities, and translating technical advances into strategic R&D and manufacturing impact.
