Science Teacher (Grades 7 & 8) - SM Middle School
About the role
Spruce Mountain Middle School is seeking a 7th and 8th Grade Science Teacher. The ideal candidate should have experience with middle school life and physical science, and be skilled in integrating scientific inquiry, issue-oriented science, and inquiry-based instructional strategies.
Responsibilities
- Use an instructional model that integrates scientific inquiry
- Teach issue-oriented science to help students connect science to the real world
- Implement inquiry-based instructional strategies to give students experience with scientific processes
- Promote a safe and welcoming classroom environment
- Build relationships with students to encourage success and foster a sense of belonging within the school community
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree preferred
- Professional teaching certification from the MDOE (conditional certification may be considered for the right candidate)
- Experience working with students with social and emotional challenges is preferred
- All school employees must be fingerprinted and pass a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) for the Department of Education
