Essential Functions
- Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
- Administers developmental testing programs and/or subject specific assessments to assess student competency levels and develop individual learning plans.
- Advise parents and/or legal guardians on student progress to communicate expectations, achievements, and methods for improvement or reinforcement of classroom goals in the home environment.
- Affirmatively assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents or guardians, and community resources to improve overall student outcomes and achieve established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
- Demonstrate methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments to provide an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
- Direct others working with and/or helping the teacher in the learning environment to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of individual students.
- Instruct students to improve their academic success through a defined course of study.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Maintain students in a variety of educational environments (classroom, field trips, etc.) to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participate in a variety of meetings (Professional Learning Communities, etc.) to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.
- Prepare a variety of written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records, meeting minutes, etc.) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Report suspected child or substance abuse to assigned site administrator to maintain student personal safety, a positive learning environment, and adhere to regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
- Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources (other teachers, parents, administrators, industry-specific organizations, etc.) to resolve issues, provide information, and/or direct.
- Respond to emergency situations (student behavior problems, health emergencies, security threats, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.

Requirements
- Valid teaching certificate in the assigned teaching field.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
- Significant fine finger dexterity.
- 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.
Continuing Education/Training
- Maintains all licenses and certifications.
Clearances
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Background Clearance.
Note
- Note: Experience in nontraditional environments and blended learning preferred.
