Science Teacher (6th Grade) AMS-Peoria Advanced (2026-2027 School Year)

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate and data-driven 6th Grade Science Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that fosters scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction aligned to AMS curriculum frameworks.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students performing above and below grade level.
• Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and interventions.
• Foster inquiry-based learning and hands-on scientific exploration.

Classroom Culture & Student Support

• Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
• Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies.
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

• Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the campus.

Family Engagement

• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
• Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications

• Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related field OR Valid Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area.
• Candidates Must Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
• Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Show strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction.
• Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment.
