Job Information Post : Science Officer Grade : C9 Status of Appointment : Permanent Basic salary : between RM 2,580.00 to RM 11,110.00 Kulliyyah (Faculty) : Centre for Foundation Studies, IIUM Location : Gambang, Kuantan, Pahang DM. Minimum Qualifications & Requirements A Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in a relevant science discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Laboratory Science) recognized by the Government, or a recognized equivalent qualification.A Credit (at least Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) level, or a recognized equivalent qualification by the Government.A relevant experience in laboratory management, teaching-lab support, or a similar environment is preferred.Possess a high level of computer literacy, including proficiency in using MS Office applications especially Microsoft Word and Excel.Proficient in both written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.Good organisational skills, able to prioritise workload and able to work independently.Person with good working attitude, integrity, responsible, self-motivated, result oriented and recognise the importance of confidentiality.A team player who is able to work independently in fast pace environment.Mature, proactive and dynamic individual with ability to adapt to changes and must be able to work under pressure.Applicants should be a Malaysian citizen. Minimum Competencies Laboratory Management: Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise teaching laboratory operations across Physics, Biology, and Chemistry departments, including scheduling lab usage, overseeing practical session set-ups, and ensuring quality control of lab activities.Safety & Compliance: Capable of implementing and maintaining standardized laboratory practices and safety protocols in coordination with OSH and the Safety & Health Committee, performing routine safety checks, and mitigating hazards (e.g., incorrect handling of chemicals or equipment). Budget & Procurement: Strong proficiency in monitoring unit budgets, planning the procurement of equipment, consumables, and chemicals, and managing asset tracking and inventory to support teaching needs. Training & Supervision: Ability to supervise Assistant Science Officers, propose staff development programmes, and arrange training on lab procedures, safety, and equipment use.Leadership & Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in leadership, effective communication, problem-solving, and adaptability to serve as the operational lead supporting multiple teaching programmes and bridging academic staff with laboratory operations. Other requirements Possession of a recognized certification of expertise in Hygiene Technology is not compulsory but will be considered a strong added advantage.
