Preferred Education 4 Year Degree The Phelps School seeks a dynamic, versatile, and passionate Science Instructor for the upcoming academic year. We are looking for an educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and possesses the expertise to teach a well-rounded curriculum. The successful candidate will be qualified to instruct a variety of standard high school science disciplines, including Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science. Our small class sizes (typically 5 to 12 students) allow for an impactful, student-centered approach to learning that fosters both academic achievement and personal growth in young men. Responsibilities Dynamic Instruction: Create an engaging, tech-integrated classroom atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of our students.Curriculum Versatility: Teach a full course load encompassing various high school science courses (including Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science).Student Mentorship: Serve as an advisor to a group of up to six students, providing dedicated guidance and holistic support.Co-Curricular Engagement: Participate in athletics and student activities for two seasons; engage fully in campus life through coaching, sponsoring clubs, chaperoning trips, and supervising community service projects. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Science-related field required; a Master’s degree is preferred.Subject Mastery: Proven ability and enthusiasm to competently teach all core high school science subjects.Pedagogical Expertise: Proficiency in a variety of instructional methods and assessment techniques, alongside a deep understanding of learning differences and effective strategies to support diverse learners.Core Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proactive, positive style.
