Responsibilities
- Regulate vehicular traffic at various intersections and crosswalks in the vicinity of elementary schools.
- Ensure safety for school children by keeping them from entering and crossing the street until traffic has been halted.
- Report violations of motorists who fail to stop when directed to do so.
Requirements
- Must speak the English language.
- Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time without an assistive device.
- Must be able to perform overhead activities that require the use of their arms.
- Must be able to run and respond rapidly to assist children.
- Must be able to intermittently bend, squat, kneel, twist, and reach without an assistive device.
- Must be able to distinguish colors.
- Must be able to hear adequately at high levels of background noise.
- Must be able to lift or carry the weight of ten (10) pounds or less.
- Must be fully alert and able to respond promptly in potentially hazardous situations.
- Must be able to exercise good judgment when responding to children's inquiries and their needs.
Qualifications
- Must pass hearing and vision tests and score adequately.
- Must be able to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
