School To Work - Mechanical Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a talented School To Work - Mechanical Engineering to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.

Responsibilities

• The design of various brake platforms in the North America commercial vehicle market from S-cam and Wedge drum brakes to the EX+ disk brakes.
• Benchmarking and 3D modeling, workflow process of releasing new products and usage of all necessary Engineering tools for design, such as, DFMEA, DFM/DFA, statistical analysis, test reports, design review and tech reviews and DVP&R (Design validation Plan and Report).
• Support engineers in coordinating and negotiating with brake lab activities including: Developments, priorities and follow up on tests.
• Track and manage test parts.
• Inspections on service parts or field returns investigation.
• Create technical test reports.
• Responsible to open and manage PO’s for brake engineering and other Engineering areas.
• Understand and apply best practices and contribute to improve them.
• Be compliant and understand Safety procedures to guarantee a safer environment to work.
• Ensure timely completion of all project objectives.
• Create a positive attitude, quick learner and a team player with diverse ideas and viewpoints.
• Understand and interpret drawings dimensions, geometric tolerances, and material specifications.
• Contribute effectively toward team goals and work as a team member to ensure project completion.

• Committed to learning and focused on delivering project tasks.
• Problem solving mindset.
• Knowledge of MS Office and statistical tools.
• 3D/2D model software - Creo desired.

Qualifications

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Currently a student in college or university pursuing bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or appropriate STEM field.
• Min. of 2 semester’s completion. Highly preferred (4 semesters completed is a plus).

Skills

• Knowledge of MS Office and statistical tools.
• 3D/2D model software - Creo desired.
