School To Work - Mechanical Engineering
About the role
We are looking for a talented School To Work - Mechanical Engineering to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.
Responsibilities
- The design of various brake platforms in the North America commercial vehicle market from S-cam and Wedge drum brakes to the EX+ disk brakes.
- Benchmarking and 3D modeling, workflow process of releasing new products and usage of all necessary Engineering tools for design, such as, DFMEA, DFM/DFA, statistical analysis, test reports, design review and tech reviews and DVP&R (Design validation Plan and Report).
- Support engineers in coordinating and negotiating with brake lab activities including: Developments, priorities and follow up on tests.
- Track and manage test parts.
- Inspections on service parts or field returns investigation.
- Create technical test reports.
- Responsible to open and manage PO’s for brake engineering and other Engineering areas.
- Understand and apply best practices and contribute to improve them.
- Be compliant and understand Safety procedures to guarantee a safer environment to work.
- Ensure timely completion of all project objectives.
- Create a positive attitude, quick learner and a team player with diverse ideas and viewpoints.
- Understand and interpret drawings dimensions, geometric tolerances, and material specifications.
- Contribute effectively toward team goals and work as a team member to ensure project completion.

- Committed to learning and focused on delivering project tasks.
- Problem solving mindset.
- Knowledge of MS Office and statistical tools.
- 3D/2D model software - Creo desired.
Qualifications
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Currently a student in college or university pursuing bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or appropriate STEM field.
- Min. of 2 semester’s completion. Highly preferred (4 semesters completed is a plus).
Skills
- Knowledge of MS Office and statistical tools.
- 3D/2D model software - Creo desired.
