School Speech Language Pathologist

About the role

Join PACE in an in-person learning environment to make a difference in the lives of individuals living with autism. This full-time position offers the opportunity to improve the quality of life for students with moderate to severe autism, ages 6-22, while working alongside a dedicated team of professionals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct screening and testing of students to determine goals
• Prepare assessment reports
• Actively participate in the development of students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
• Consult with teachers on follow-through activities for students within your caseload
• Observe and work directly with students either on an individual or group basis toward their communication goals
• Develop curriculum for students based on assessment of communication goals
• Modify students’ programs based on periodic evaluation to help curb behaviors and promote communication goals
• Maintain students’ speech records
• Participate in staff development programs
• Meet with parents regarding their student’s progress as requested

Requirements

• Must have SLP-CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology)
• Must have an appropriate California Credential
• At least 1 year of experience with autism and other developmental disabilities
• Understanding of the principles and techniques of language, speech, and hearing services, with emphasis on Moderate to Severe Developmental Disabilities (DD) populations
• A strong knowledge of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and/or visual structure is highly preferred
• Ability to work in a fast and dynamic environment
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• Proven organizational capabilities
