Position Overview

KIPP Indy believes that students' character and emotional growth are integral to their academic success. They are seeking a Social Worker to support students and families through various means.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage aspects of referral process for social services and community partners
  • Conduct regular assessments of student and family needs
  • Affirmative action and diversity initiatives
  • Assist with student retention through strategic home-visits
  • Refer individuals and families to external resources and services
  • Support families in accessing these resources
  • Home visits for newly enrolled and current students
  • Workshops to educate families, staff, and/or students on specific issues
  • Administer records, documentation, and other compliance activities
  • Provide direct services to the school community
  • Regular one-on-one counseling or group counseling to students and families
  • Meet regularly with students who have mandated counseling in their IEPs
  • Ensure a safe, positive environment in group and one-on-one counseling sessions
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Manage, track, and document student interactions and counseling schedule
  • Set goals with students and track progress towards those goals
  • Collaborate regularly with teachers and staff to meet student's needs
  • Identify and support students and families who are identified as being displaced
  • Set up transportation to and from school and connect with community resources
  • Communicate consistently with families and students who are identified as being displaced
  • Consult with the school-based leadership team to develop comprehensive supports and interventions
  • Communicate with students, families, and colleagues, responding to family concerns promptly and effectively
  • Participate in team meetings, school-wide activities, professional development, and other events
  • Provide recommendations to the staff and leadership team around approaches to working with struggling students

Qualifications

  • Masters in Social Work required (LCSW preferred)
  • At least 4 years experience in the field
  • Spanish Speaking (preferred)
  • Experience in working within a school environment or extensive work with children, teenagers, and young adults
  • Experience in therapeutic modalities related to children and families in traditionally underserved communities, including assessment and treatment of trauma
  • Strong work ethic, extensive knowledge of child and adolescent development, and a documented track record of personal and professional success

Additional Information

The starting salary for this position is $62,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
