MISTAFF is a collaborative effort of the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators, Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators, Michigan Association of School Boards, Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals, Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association, and Michigan School Public Relations Association.

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to serve as the next Superintendent for [District Name]. Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the district, ensuring alignment with the mission, vision, and goals of the school community.
• Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs and policies.
• Foster a positive and collaborative relationship with the Board of Education, staff, students, parents, and the broader community.
• Manage district operations, including budgeting, finance, human resources, and facilities.
• Lead efforts to improve student achievement and close achievement gaps through data-driven decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal education laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and innovation among staff.
• Serve as the chief spokesperson for the district, representing the district at local, state, and national levels.

Requirements

• Valid Michigan Superintendent Certification or the ability to obtain one.
• Minimum of five years of successful experience in a senior administrative role within a K-12 educational setting.
• Proven track record of effective leadership in curriculum development, instruction, and assessment.
• Strong financial management skills, including budget development and oversight.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field preferred; Master’s degree required.
• Experience working in a diverse school district and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in urban, suburban, or rural settings.
• Knowledge of current educational trends, research, and best practices in K-12 education.
