About the role

Cross Country Education is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support K–12 students in Bel Air, MD, during the 2026–2027 school year. The position involves providing itinerant TVI services and consultation, developing and implementing IEPs, delivering direct instruction in Braille, screen readers, low vision aids, and compensatory skills, collaborating with educators and support staff to develop accommodations, and managing caseload needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide itinerant TVI services and consultation to students with visual impairments across K–12 campuses.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Deliver direct instruction in Braille, screen readers, low vision aids, and compensatory skills.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to develop accommodations and ensure students have access to the curriculum.
  • Cook up with school teams to manage caseload needs, including scheduling, progress updates, and accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Visual Impairments, or Special Education.
  • Active Maryland Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Certification.
  • Prior experience providing direct and consultative services in a school-based or pediatric setting.
  • Braille proficiency strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Visual Impairments, or Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with school teams and educators.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Braille and low vision aids.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
