About the role
The School Services School Speech Language Pathologist will provide comprehensive speech and language services to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in a variety of settings, including classrooms and potentially supervising SLPAs.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements treatment plans, interventions, and educational materials tailored to meet individual student objectives and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Provides speech and language services to students with IEPs, including those with higher caseloads up to 70 students.
- Evaluates students in the areas of speech and language as directed by the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET).
- Writes and attends Meetings to Evaluate Students (MET) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as the SLP service coordinator.
- Supervises SLPAs in implementing speech and language services in the classroom, depending on caseload numbers.
- Communicates with teachers, parents, other personnel, and outside professionals to provide necessary information, develop service plans, and make recommendations.
- Supports staff and students using augmentative communication devices and integrates language acquisition into classroom curriculum.
- Works collaboratively with the school’s positive behavior intervention system and supports staff and students in achieving their goals.
- Ensures compliance with paperwork and accountability for meeting IEP goals.
- Participates in staff training and professional development opportunities.
- Completes Medicaid billing as part of the job responsibilities.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Arizona.
- Experience working with students with special needs and IEPs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement best practices in speech-language therapy.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Arizona teaching certificate or equivalent.
- Experience with Medicaid billing and reimbursement processes.
- Proficiency in using technology for documentation and communication.
