School Services - School Special Education Teacher - $50-60 per hour

We are currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to lead an elementary-aged classroom in the Olympia, WA area for the 2026-2027 school year.
About the role
This full-time, in-person position supports elementary-aged students with significant behavioral, social-emotional, and possible academic needs. The program emphasizes individualized instruction, positive behavioral support, de-escalation strategies, communication and social-skills development, and increased student independence. Teachers and support staff collaborate to implement students’ IEPs, Behavior Intervention Plans, accommodations, visual supports, and individualized learning plans.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs
- Adapt lessons and curriculum to meet individual student needs and IEP goals
- Provide specially designed instruction in individual and small-group settings
- Facilitate IEP meetings and contribute to the development and revision of student IEPs
- Develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans and individualized behavioral supports
- Use positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies to support student success
- Create visual supports, individualized schedules, and reward systems
- Collect and analyze data to monitor academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progress
- Promote communication, social skills, independent problem-solving, and student independence
- Maintain a structured classroom environment with clear and consistent expectations
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, families, and other school professionals
- Support students safely and positively across classroom and school settings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education
- Current Washington Professional Educator Certificate
- Appropriate Special Education endorsement
- Knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, and behavioral-support strategies
- Ability to support students with significant behavioral and social-emotional needs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom-management skills
- Previous school-based special education experience preferred
Schedule
- Full-time, 1.0 FTE
- Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
- Contract dates: September 3, 2026 – June 10, 2027 (41 weeks)
- 8-hour day shift
