About the Role
Cross Country Education is seeking an English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to deliver engaging, rigorous instruction to 8th grade students in Bronx, NY. The role emphasizes literary analysis, critical thinking, reading comprehension, and advanced writing skills. You will develop lessons, activities, and assessments that challenge students to analyze complex texts, articulate ideas effectively, and support their perspectives with evidence. The position fosters a structured and inclusive classroom environment where students engage in meaningful discussions, think independently, and take ownership of their learning.
Collaborate with fellow educators and school staff to support academic achievement and contribute to a positive school community.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging ELA instruction to 8th grade students, focusing on literary analysis, critical thinking, reading comprehension, and advanced writing skills.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification (preferred). Non-certified candidates must have at least 12 college credits in the relevant subject area and provide transcripts demonstrating subject-matter expertise.
- 1–2 years of experience teaching ELA or a related subject to middle or high school students; experience with advanced, honors, or AP-level coursework and urban school settings preferred.
Pay
Competitive pay range of $39.10 - $40.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications, with weekly pay and opportunities for bonuses and incentives.
