About the role
This position serves as a point of contact and responds to calls for assistance for all levels of security and potential emergency needs by Thompson School District property. The incumbent conducts comprehensive proactive and responsive patrols of District campuses and other property to ensure safety and security.
Responsibilities
- Responds to calls for assistance from District employees, students, and the public on Thompson School District property.
- Conducts comprehensive proactive and responsive patrols of District campuses and other property to ensure safety and security of students, staff, and visitors.
- Works with appropriate emergency response agencies when necessary.
- Provides back-up to the District Dispatch Center.
- Responds to emergencies and takes necessary steps to address all emergencies.
- May be required to respond to matters pertaining to vandalism, theft, arson, personnel problems, etc.
- Works on rotating shifts that provide coverage after school hours.
- May be called in on short notice to assist in emergencies, special events or assignments, or to cover a shift in the event of illness.
- Acts as a liaison between security technicians and senior security leadership.
- Provides immediate guidance to all security technicians in security response practices and process.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. Must have a minimum of one year of experience in a security-related field. Must possess a valid Colorado Peace Officer’s License.
Qualifications
Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be able to handle stressful situations and remain calm under pressure.
Skills
Knowledge of security procedures and protocols. Ability to operate various security equipment and technology. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
