School Security Officer
About the role
This is not a warehouse, parking lot, or warm-body post. You will work in a professional environment where your judgment, communication, reliability, and de-escalation skills are respected.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible, professional presence throughout the school
- Patrol entrances, hallways, common areas, grounds, and safety hot spots
- Support visitor management and access-control procedures
- Identify suspicious behavior and report concerns early
- Use verbal de-escalation during student, parent, and staff conflicts
- Build professional relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
- Respond calmly during emergencies and critical incidents
- Communicate by radio and write clear, factual incident reports
- Arrive on time, look sharp, stay engaged, and remain consistent
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Reliable transportation - this site is not accessible via public transportation
- Active cell phone and reliable email access
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional appearance and student-appropriate demeanor
- Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing
- Willingness to complete all required K-12 clearances and training
- Ability to walk up to 10,000 steps and stand for extended periods
- No disqualifying criminal convictions

Pay
$18.00 per hour
Schedule
Monday to Friday - 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
School-year assignment
After-school or weekend events as required
Potential crossover assignments during school breaks, based on availability, performance, and business needs
