School Safety Officer positions are available at the Mechanicsburg Area School District starting in the 2026/2027 school year. These are part-time roles with varying hours based on assignments.

About the role

Provides hospitality and general security at school-sponsored extracurricular activities and events for outside organizations using school facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide security and hospitality at school-sponsored extracurricular activities and events for outside organizations using school facilities.
• Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in maintaining a safe environment.
• Assist with crowd control and manage access to school facilities.

Requirements

• Valid Criminal History Clearance form
• Valid Child Abuse History Clearance form
• Act 168 forms
• I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) form

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in law enforcement or security preferred
• Knowledge of school safety policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively
• Strong organizational skills
• Basic computer literacy
