School Safety Officer

About the Role

Ball-Chatham CUSD #5 is seeking motivated, passionate, and dedicated professionals to join our team as a School Safety Officer. Multiple positions are available for individuals committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and positive environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Campus Safety: Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors across campus.
• Support Student Well-Being: Monitor student behavior and support everyday safety during school operations and activities.
• Respond & Protect: Address and resolve security concerns or incidents at your assigned building and other district facilities as needed.

Requirements

• High School graduate or GED equivalent.
• Active or retired law enforcement officer in good standing with prior agency and the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB).
• Ability to obtain and maintain any licenses, certifications, training, or qualifications required for assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to successfully complete criminal background checks and other employment screenings required by law and District policy.
