PRIMARY PURPOSE

Aid schools in developing educational programs for students by conducting evaluations, providing counseling, and participating in ARD meetings.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree with Texas license as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
  • Knowledge of assessment and intervention strategies
  • Strong consultation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate computers and use various applications
  • Ability to work with students, parents, and teachers

Major Responsibilities And Job Duties

  • Select and administer assessments to evaluate students’ intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning
  • Develop behavior management plans based on assessment data
  • Generate psychological evaluation reports
  • Participate in ARD Committee to assist with IEP development
  • Communicate with parents about test results and student needs
  • Provide counseling and psychological services to students
  • Coordinate and maintain psychological services
  • Compile, maintain, and file reports and records
  • Comply with legal and district policies
  • Maintain positive relationships with supervisors and colleagues
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Use assessment data to improve professional skills
  • Act ethically and professionally
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and community
  • Involvement in district and special education program improvement

Safety

  • Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning under stress
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Analyze data for decision-making
  • Frequent in-district travel
  • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
  • Contribute to accident and injury prevention
