School Programs Director

What You’ll Lead

  • Budget Management — Develop, administer, and control designated program budgets to ensure responsible financial stewardship.
  • Staff Supervision — Select, train, supervise, and support paid and volunteer staff to maintain high-quality program delivery.
  • Program Coordination — Direct and organize daily program activities that align with Center and Association goals.
  • Program Evaluation — Evaluate program effectiveness, recommend improvements, and develop new initiatives to meet evolving needs.
  • Community Partnerships — Engage with community groups to identify needs and strengthen program impact.
  • Communication & Representation — Interpret and communicate Association goals, objectives, and policies to families, schools, and community partners.
  • Center Collaboration — Share responsibility for Center supervision, public relations, planning, and promotional activities.

What You Bring

  • Degree in child development, early childhood education, recreation, elementary education, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 2–3 years of professional experience working specifically with school-age youth
  • Background in school-age programming and family engagement
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to complete all YMCA training requirements within established timelines

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This role includes typical office tasks, occasional program site visits, and light physical activity (lifting up to 40 lbs).
  • Noise levels vary from quiet office settings to active youth program environments.
