School Physical Therapist - $49-54 per hour
About the role
School-based physical therapists help students improve mobility and physical function so they can fully participate in the classroom and throughout the school environment. As related service providers under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), they collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement therapy goals that support each student's access to and success in the general education curriculum.
Compensation Range: $49-54/hour. Location: Columbia, SC; onsite in a school setting.
Schedule
School day schedule. PRN/as needed, 2 hours/month. Contract length: school year.
Responsibilities
- Interpret physician orders related to professional area of responsibility
- Assess gross motor skills and therapeutic equipment needs of students
- Develop, implement, monitor, and modify treatment plans based on physician orders and assessment of student as appropriate
- Complete IEP, MET, Medicaid and treatment forms/reports
- Maintain treatment/progress notes and Medicaid documentation per professional standards
- Train paraprofessionals/PTAs on various student plans
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
Requirements
- Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of SC
- Valid SC driver's license
- Pediatric experience preferred
- A passion for working with children
- The ability to "connect" with staff, children, and parents
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Creative and flexible
- Access to personal transportation
