Oversight of School of the Arts Exhibit, Performance, and Production Spaces
- Assist the TD in maintaining the safety and efficiency of all School of the Arts (Theatre & Dance, Art, Design and Letters, Petrie School of Music) performance, production and exhibition spaces
- Aid in the construction and installation of scenic elements for all productions
- Support tech week rehearsals and strikes
- Attend production meetings
- Maintain lighting, sound, and projection equipment
- Support pre-production logistics, planning, and scheduling
- Run load-in, run, and strike for campus and rental events
- Support community partners with rehearsals, stage sets, and strike
- Train and work with student workers
Generalist Responsibilities
- Support Event Services staff in other facilities
- Support rehearsals, performances, meetings, or presentations for other departments
- Flip the Twichell stage and remove the pit as needed
- Lay and remove Marley flooring as needed
- Communicate with key faculty, staff, and renters
- Maintain occupancy compliance with Fire Marshal codes
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred in technical theater or a related field
- Equivalent experience and training in technical theater fields will be considered instead of a formal degree
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in dusty spaces
- Tech-oriented, creative, and team-oriented
- Friendly, attentive, and able to multitask in close quarters
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with audio, video, and lighting technology
- Demonstrated knowledge of theatrical equipment
- Experience working with professional artists/entertainers/groups
Guidelines and Supervision
- The position reports to the Technical Director
- Must be able to work independently or within a team
Work Schedule
- Normal business hours: 8 am - 5 pm Monday through Thursday, 8 am - 1 pm Friday
- Night and weekend work required
- Weekly hours can vary between 36 and 80 hours, depending on event/show demands
