School of Pharmacy - Faculty, Pharmacy Practice (Ambulatory Care)

About the Role

This faculty position coordinates and delivers instruction throughout the School’s pharmacotherapeutics and pharmacy practice curriculum, with a focus on ambulatory care and chronic disease state management in both traditional and online pathways. Additional teaching assignments may be designated at the discretion of the Chair of Pharmacy Practice. The faculty member will maintain an active ambulatory care clinical practice supporting direct patient care, population health initiatives, and interprofessional collaboration, while serving as a preceptor for Doctor of Pharmacy students in both Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs).

Responsibilities

  • Teaching
    • Coordinate and deliver didactic, laboratory, and experiential instruction within the Pharm.D. curriculum, emphasizing ambulatory care, population health, and evidence-based pharmacotherapy.
    • Develop, assess, and continuously improve course materials aligned with programmatic outcomes and ACPE standards.
    • Facilitate active learning strategies and innovative educational approaches in face-to-face and online environments.
    • Serve as a faculty advisor and mentor to Pharm.D. students.
  • Clinical Practice and Precepting
    • Maintain an active ambulatory care clinical practice advancing patient care and supporting the School’s mission and affiliated healthcare partners.
    • Provide direct patient care services, including comprehensive medication management, chronic disease management, preventive care, and transitions of care.
    • Precept and mentor pharmacy students during IPPE and APPE rotations.
    • Participate in interprofessional healthcare teams and collaborative practice initiatives.
  • Scholarship
    • Engage in scholarly activities contributing to the advancement of pharmacy practice, pharmacy education, and/or ambulatory care.
    • Disseminate scholarly work through presentations, publications, grant activities, or other recognized endeavors.
    • Maintain a scholarly agenda consistent with expectations for appointment renewal and promotion.
  • Service
    • Participate in School, University, and departmental committee assignments.
    • Contribute to professional organizations and pharmacy practice initiatives at local, state, or national levels.
    • Engage in community outreach and service activities aligned with D’Youville University’s mission and values.
    • Support accreditation, assessment, recruitment, and other strategic initiatives of the School of Pharmacy.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited program.
    • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency.
    • Completion of a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency preferred.
    • Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in New York State.
    • Board certification (e.g., BCACP) preferred.
  • Experience
    • Demonstrated experience in ambulatory care practice, including chronic disease state management, medication optimization, patient education, and collaborative care.
  • Skills & Abilities
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, faculty, staff, and students.
    • Proficiency with electronic health records, learning management systems, and other educational and clinical technologies.

Pay

$100,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with education and qualifications.
