About the Role

The School of Gender, Race, and Nations at Portland State University invites applications for Adjunct instructors with expertise in core areas of gender, race, and nations and similar fields. Should an instructional position become available for hire in academic year 2026-2027, applicants will be selected from this pool to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses within the School.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Black Studies, Chicanx/Latinx Studies, Indigenous Nations Studies, Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, or closely related fields.
• Create an inclusive and respectful learning environment that acknowledges and celebrates differences.
• Function and communicate effectively within diverse cultural contexts.
• Adhere to Portland State University’s policies on Prohibited Discrimination & Harassment and Professional Standards of Conduct.
• Contribute to a culture of environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Requirements

• Advanced degree(s) or comparable knowledge base in Black Studies, Chicanx/Latinx Studies, Indigenous Nations Studies, Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, or closely related fields.
• Prior teaching experience.
• Must be residing in Oregon or Southwest Washington.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced or terminal degree(s) in relevant fields.

Pay

Adjuncts are paid per credit hour, as per the PSUFA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Details about compensation and other components can be found at PSUFA.
