School Nurse (R.N.)

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse
• B.S. N. preferred, not required
• Valid State of Connecticut R.N. license to practice professional nursing
• Certified in CPR

Job Goal

Implements the process and follow-up of diagnosing human responses to actual or potential health problems. Provides the best physical and mental health care for all students to create a climate of health and well-being in the district schools.

Performance Responsibilities

• Collaborates to develop programs that meet the identified needs of students, families, and school personnel.
• Delivers effective prevention programs and services.
• Captures health services for students.
• Delivers effective screening and assessment services.
• Delivers a continuum of effective nursing intervention services from early intervention through crisis response.
• Aids students in monitoring and directing their personal development and capabilities.
• Delivers effective referral and liaison services.
• Collaborates and consults with other medical professionals to provide effective and efficient services.
• Evaluates students' outcomes to ensure high-quality services.
• Executes the medical regimen under the direction of a licensed Physician or Dentist.

Terms Of Employment

Ten month year, unless noted. Salary and work year by contract.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Supervisor of Nursing Services. Evaluation of school nurse is systematic, appropriate to meet the individual needs of evaluated staff members, and consistent with school nursing standards of practice.
