School Nurse, Gr. 7-12 [ English High 0.5 FTE/ Hennigan 0.5 FTE] (SY26-27)

About the role

The position is paired between English High and Hennigan. The position is posted online at both schools. You need to apply to only one position to be considered, but may apply to both. If selected, you will be hired for both positions.

Responsibilities

• Provides emergency medical care to students.
• Administers and/or supervises the administration of prescription medication to students.
• Counsels and/or educates students in small groups or as individuals concerning medical issues.
• Conducts formal and informal evaluations of medical conditions and develops accurate medical summaries on students.
• Teaches mini-courses to small groups of students in Medical/Health areas relating to survival skills.
• Maintains adequate and updated health records.
• Serves as medical representative to evaluations and re-evaluations, obtains and interprets medical evaluation at these meetings.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse, MA State Dept. of Education School Nurse License (All Levels), CPR & First Aid Certification, and current authorization to work in the United States.
• Preferred: Experience in support services in a school setting, liaison and case management, high-risk, multi-problem children and adolescents.
