School Nurse (All Grade Levels) (2026-2027 SY - General Pool)

About the role

The School Nurse at ACPS supports the educational process by addressing health-related barriers to learning, promoting student and staff well-being, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and evaluates school health programs in collaboration with school personnel and community resources.
• Identifies and reports environmental health and safety hazards to ensure student and staff safety.
• Maintains and reviews student health records and communicates health issues to parents and staff.
• Provides first aid, administers medications, and offers health counseling to students.
• Assists students and parents in accessing community health resources and develops self-care skills.
• Collaborates with community agencies and health professionals to address the health needs of students and youth.
• Facilitates professional growth through participation in school-related programs and ongoing education.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Virginia.
• Current CPR certification.
• Bilingual speaking ability in Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience within the specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility required.

• Knowledge of Virginia Nursing Law and school health policies.

Pay

Compensation step placement and salary are determined by ACPS Teachers and Other Licensed Staff Salary Scale.

Schedule

This is a 10-month Licensed, 195-day Teacher position.
