School Librarian

About the Role

The School Librarian is a full-time, on-site role located in Houston, TX, responsible for managing and nurturing a vibrant, student-centered library program.

Responsibilities

• Organizing and maintaining library collections, cataloging resources, and ensuring accurate metadata and records
• Supporting classroom instruction by collaborating with educators
• Teaching students how to locate, evaluate, and use information
• Promoting reading and digital literacy
• Managing library operations and schedules
• Guiding students and staff in the use of print and digital resources
• Facilitating library programs and events
• Ensuring an inclusive, welcoming environment for all library users

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Library Services and Library Management, including collection development, circulation, and user support
• Knowledge of Library Science and Metadata practices for organizing, cataloging, and maintaining print and digital resources
• Experience with Library Instruction, including teaching information literacy, research skills, and responsible use of digital resources
• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in Library Science/Information Science or related field preferred
• Relevant state certification or eligibility for certification as a school librarian, in accordance with Texas requirements
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, educators, families, and administrators
• Comfort with educational technology, learning management systems, and digital library platforms
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a safe, respectful environment for diverse learners
