School Intervention Specialist

Responsibilities

• Perform an environmental and safety assessment upon entry to the community or residential setting where visit is to take place
• Assess for SI and develop safety plan if necessary
• Assess client and develop diagnostic impression
• Develop a treatment plan collaboratively with client, family, guidance counselor and outpatient provider based on identified client needs
• Utilize crisis intervention skills when necessary
• Build rapport with a wide variety of clients and work from a culturally competent perspective
• Identify need for medical and/or substance abuse treatment and make appropriate referrals
• Implement brief therapeutic strategies that are effective in reducing client’s mental health symptoms
• Work with families and involved persons to de-escalate the situation, make a crisis plan, and enlist cooperation with recommended treatment
• Set short-term and measurable goals
• Demonstrate capacity to work with a wide range of clients; child and adolescent, adult, dual diagnosis and geriatric
• Complete all documentation in a timely manner using EMR
• Participate in all required trainings
• Absorb all federal, state and local confidentiality regulations
• Comply with all mandatory reporting, including duty to warn and child abuse/neglect referrals
• Comply with all of programs contractual and operational guidelines as outlined by your manager
• Check work e-mail according to agency protocol
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field of study
• Two to three years of commensurate experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree if currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program
• Collaborative and positive regarding working with law enforcement business partners
• Excellent client/patient service skills with the ability and desire to comply with the rules and regulations of those organizations to which we are accountable
• Ability to load up to 50 pounds from office to vehicle to training location at times
• Valid driver's license with proof of insurance and no more than 3 points
