School Counselor - Cherryvale Elementary

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of a Master's degree and valid South Carolina educator certification in Elementary School Counseling.

Location: Cherryvale Elementary School
Grade Span: School Counselor will work with Pre-K - 5th grade students.
Reporting: Building Level Principal

Performance Responsibilities

• Works with students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom.
• Guides in the decision making processes concerning academics and personal/social development.
• Helps students evaluate their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personal characteristics for educational planning.
• Consults with outside resources/agencies to maximize and coordinate the use of available services.
• Consults with parents regarding their children, school related issues, and meetings for special purposes.
• Affords students opportunities to develop self-confidence and a positive self-concept.
• Affords students opportunities to strengthen interpersonal skills.
• Attends staff, professional and inter-agency meetings.
• Convenes with teachers and parents whenever necessary.
• Participates in regular staff meetings and ongoing trainings.

TERMS:

• 195 Days.

Evaluation

• Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation.
