School Clinic Nurse

Qualifications LPN or RN with a valid Indiana Nursing License Public Health Nursing Or School Nursing Experience Preferred DUTY DAYS: 184 REPORTS TO: Building Principal & Corporation Nurse PRIMARY FUNCTION: To appraise, promote, and protect the health of all students. Duties & Responsibilities Check all students presenting in clinic and record visit.Provide first aid to ill or injured students/staff following ISBH First Aid Guidelines and RedCross First Aid and CPR class.Administer and record student medication in accordance with state law and school policy.Notify parent/guardian when student is ill or injured (other than very minor illness or injury) or when student presents with unusual symptoms.Consult with the corporation nurse as needed on health care delivery matters; communicate any staff/student/parent concerns . Notify nurse of any medical emergency, severe or unusual injury, major change in child's health status, incidents of communicable disease, or other pertinent information regarding student health.Assist with the mandated screenings pertinent to your building. Send out referrals and follow up with parents as needed. Send a report to the corporation nurse.Compile a list of student health concerns by reviewing the health histories, contact appropriate staff, and send a copy of health concerns to the corporation nurse.Monitor the immunization status of all students following the ISDH requirements. Send a report to the corporation nurse by September 30th annually.Maintain a safe, pleasant clinic environment.Work within the scope of nursing license at all times.Follow directions given by the corporation nurseComply with clinic guidelines and policies at all timesOther duties as assigned by the superintendent or designee.
