School Bus Driver

About the Role

A dedicated School Bus Driver responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and fostering a positive environment during routes.

Responsibilities

• Operate school buses and commercial vehicles safely, following traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Transport students to various locations, including schools, extracurriculars, and events.
• Enforce behavior policies and maintain order on the bus to ensure passenger safety.
• Conduct vehicle inspections for safety and cleanliness before and after trips.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and dispatchers, utilizing multilingual skills if needed.
• Assist students with boarding and disembarking, including those with special needs.
• Maintain accurate records of routes, attendance, and incidents.
• Follow all transportation regulations and standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience in bus or commercial driving; prior school bus or paratransit experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills suitable for interacting with children and adults.
• Mechanical knowledge for vehicle maintenance and minor troubleshooting.
• Experience working with children or in childcare enhances understanding of student needs.
• Multilingual abilities or background in senior care or teaching are advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL with passenger endorsement preferred.
• Ability to complete reports and documentation related to transportation activities.
