About the role
To provide safe, reliable and efficient transportation service by operating various school buses in transporting passengers to and from school as well as related activities in accordance with applicable policies, regulations, and statutes. To identify and communicate mechanical/maintenance and/or emergency situations to the Transportation Director/Coordinator. Assure a safe, on-time service and customer satisfaction while maintaining the highest level of ethical behavior with customers, fellow employees, and the community served. Position available immediately; full‑time and part‑time positions are available.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a driving record check through the NM Motor Vehicle Division with a solid safety record
- Successful completion of a criminal background check per Section 22-10-3, NMSA 1978 (at applicant's expense)
- Satisfactory completion of a NM school bus driver's physical examination
- Possess a valid New Mexico commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B for school buses with S and P endorsements, or the ability to obtain one
- Successful pre‑employment drug abuse screening per 49 CFR Part 382 at the District's testing lab
- School bus driver experience desired
- Current First Aid/CPR certification where required by State/District/Regulations (desired)
- Ability to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 and, upon an offer, complete an Employee's Statement of Health and submit to a functional capacity evaluation at the District's expense

Pay
Nine months (180 days) per contract year with appropriate placement on the Bus Driver Salary Schedule.
