About the role
The Bus Driver position is responsible for transporting the Resurrection Christian School students, staff, coaches and volunteers to and from the activities, programs, field trips, and sporting events.
Responsibilities
- Transport RCS students, staff, coaches and volunteers to and from activities, programs, field trips and sporting events.
- Ensure safe entering, exiting and riding of RCS students, staff, coaches, and volunteers.
- Maintain proper student and passenger discipline per RCS rules and policies.
- Report any infractions to the Transportation Supervisor and appropriate School Principal.
- Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections ensuring the bus is safe to operate and well maintained.
- Maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
- Report any inspections deficiencies immediately to the Transportation Supervisor.
- Keep required records and documentation as instructed by the Transportation Supervisor, including trip routes, student rosters, and pre and post inspections.
- Operate the bus in compliance with all laws, rules and regulations established by RCS and DOT.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Report (via radio or telephone) immediately any emergencies, breakdowns, delays, accidents, incidents of damage or vandalism to the Transportation Supervisor or appropriate School Principal.
- Participate in all in-service training programs, bus driver meetings and required driver training courses.
- Provide copies of all required licenses, certificates, and personal documentation requested by RCS’ Administration (such as CDL, Medical Examiner’s Certificate, Personal Vehicle Insurance card).
Requirements
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Hold or able to obtain a valid Class B State of Colorado CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with a P2, S and Airbrake endorsement.
- Have and maintain a clean DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle) record for the past 5 years.
- Pass the required Department of Transportation (DOT) drug & alcohol test and examinations; pre-employment, random and post-accident.

- Knowledge of operating the designated vehicle.
- Knowledge of fire extinguisher, fuel pumps, and handicap equipment.

- Able and willing to carry a cell phone for immediate communication during the assigned trip.
Physical Requirements
- The Bus Driver must be able to talk, hear, stand, sit and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in an outdoor environment with some exposure to extreme temperatures and a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, reach and pick up or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds and possess normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- In the event of an emergency evacuation of a school bus, the driver must be able to assist in the evacuation of the students.
