About the Role

Provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation service by operating various school buses to transport passengers to and from school and related activities in accordance with applicable policies, regulations, and statutes. Identify and communicate mechanical, maintenance, or emergency situations to the Transportation Director/Coordinator. Ensure safe, on-time service, customer satisfaction, and maintain high ethical standards with customers, fellow employees, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Operate school buses to transport students to and from school and related activities.
• Identify and report mechanical, maintenance, or emergency situations.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and co-workers.
• Maintain a solid safety record and comply with all applicable regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New Mexico commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class B for school buses, with S and P endorsements (or ability to obtain one).
• Successful completion of a driving record check through the NM Motor Vehicle Division with a solid safety record.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check (at applicant’s expense) in accordance with Section 22-10-3, NMSA, 1978.
• Satisfactory completion of a NM school bus driver’s physical examination.
• Successful pre-employment drug screening in accordance with 49 CFR Part 382.
• Ability to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
• Upon offer of employment, complete an Employee’s Statement of Health and submit to a functional capacity evaluation at the District’s expense.

Qualifications

• School bus driver experience desired.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification (where required by State/District/Regulations) desired.
• Ability to interact and communicate with students in a positive manner.
• Ability to perform essential job functions and task requirements.

Pay

Nine months (180 days) per contract year, with placement on the Bus Driver Salary Schedule. Refer to the Alamogordo Public Schools Salary and Work Day Calendar for details.

Schedule

Full-time and part-time positions available. Position available immediately.
