School Based Therapist

About the role

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is seeking a full-time School Based Therapist to provide therapy, community support, and case management to clients using evidence-based interventions focusing on behavior, emotional, and social skills building, academic support, and linking to community resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and family therapy, community support, and case management to children and adolescents aged 4 to 21.
• Assess clients for risk of harm and make appropriate referrals to more intensive services.
• Participate in the behavioral health team in assigned CPS schools and track referrals.
• Consult with school personnel, parents, and outside providers regarding students' progress and needs.
• Aid parents in engaging fully in their child's education and mental health treatment.
• Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and maintain integrity in interactions with clients, families, other LSSI staff, and collaborative organizations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work or counseling required.
• Obtain and maintain certification in IMCANS required.
• Background check clearance, including criminal, DCFS, and CPS.
• Experience working with children and adolescents aged 4 to 21 preferred.
• Ability to act safely and appropriately with clients in the community.
• Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative community partnerships.
• Excellent organization, presentation, and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work or counseling.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
