About the role
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is seeking a full-time School Based Therapist to provide therapy, community support, and case management to clients using evidence-based interventions focusing on behavior, emotional, and social skills building, academic support, and linking to community resources.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and family therapy, community support, and case management to children and adolescents aged 4 to 21.
- Assess clients for risk of harm and make appropriate referrals to more intensive services.
- Participate in the behavioral health team in assigned CPS schools and track referrals.
- Consult with school personnel, parents, and outside providers regarding students' progress and needs.
- Aid parents in engaging fully in their child's education and mental health treatment.
- Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and maintain integrity in interactions with clients, families, other LSSI staff, and collaborative organizations.
Requirements
- Master's degree in social work or counseling required.
- Obtain and maintain certification in IMCANS required.
- Background check clearance, including criminal, DCFS, and CPS.
- Experience working with children and adolescents aged 4 to 21 preferred.
- Ability to act safely and appropriately with clients in the community.
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative community partnerships.
- Excellent organization, presentation, and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work or counseling.
- IMCANS certification required.
- Experience working with children and adolescents aged 4 to 21.
- Safe and appropriate behavior with clients.
- Clear communication skills.
- Collaborative community partnership experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
