School Based SLP TSSLD/TS (36076)

Responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders in an educational setting. Implements appropriate Speech-Language Pathology instruction designed to teach, habilitate, or rehabilitate the communicatively impaired student.

Responsibilities

• Impart knowledge via the implementation of appropriate Speech-Language Pathology instruction.
• Display competence in the area of speech-language impairment (either licensed or under the careful direction and supervision of a licensed SLP).
• Determine type and severity of speech-language impairment, under careful supervision if unlicensed.
• Determine prognosis and appropriate instruction and treatment for speech-language impairments.
• Perform evaluation, diagnosis, and recommend therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders.
• Work collaboratively with other professionals such as classroom teachers, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, audiologists, supervisors, and others as appropriate.
• Submit written reports of evaluations, treatment and educational plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines, ensuring timely and organized completion.
• Make appropriate referrals as needed to affect positive therapeutic results.
• Communicate regularly with family/student.
• Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and upgrade professional knowledge through continuing education programs. Participate in in-service programs and formal staff training. Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.
• Supervise CFYs and TSSLDs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed (licensed Speech Pathologists only).
• Perform any other duty as requested by your supervisor.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited speech-language pathology program.
• New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (or CFY eligible).
• Certificate of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (or CFY eligible).
• Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (“TSSLD”) Initial or Professional certificate or “TSHH” Permanent certificate.

Pay

$55,001.95/yr - $70,127.40/yr plus a comprehensive benefit package.
