School-Based Physical Therapist - $62-67 per hour

About the role

School-based physical therapists help students improve mobility and physical function so they can fully participate in the classroom and throughout the school environment. As related service providers under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), they collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement therapy goals that support each student's access to and success in the general education curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Interpret physician orders related to professional area of responsibility
• Assess gross motor skills and therapeutic equipment needs of students
• Develop, implement, monitor and modify treatment plans based on physician orders and assessment of student as appropriate
• Complete IEP, MET, Medicaid and treatment forms/reports
• Maintain treatment/progress notes and Medicaid documentation per professional standards
• Train Paraprofessionals on various student plans
• Regular and predictable attendance

• Shift: 8 hours, days

Requirements

• Licensed Physical Therapist – State of Michigan
• Michigan Driver’s License
• Pediatric experience preferred

Skills

• Regularly required to remain in a stationary position and frequently move about the inside of the building
• Assist in transferring students from one location to another (e.g., from a wheelchair to a mat table), which may require lifting up to 50 pounds and/or pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds
• Frequently communicate with teachers, parents, and students, including reading to students, and must be able to exchange accurate information
• Engage in the physical management of students to maintain a safe environment

Pay

Compensation Range: $62-67/hour
