About the role
Under the supervision of the School Age Site Coordinator, the Assistant Group Leader will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved. The role includes upholding the employee code of conduct and ensuring all job responsibilities align with the mission of the Old Colony Y and the regulating agency. The Assistant Group Leader will model and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect.
Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising the program to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children.
- Ensure all job responsibilities reflect the mission and beliefs of the Old Colony Y.
- Uphold the employee code of conduct.
- Display and encourage character traits such as caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect.
- Create and sustain a culture of excellence while working as part of a cohesive team.
- Lift and move heavy equipment and perform cleaning duties as necessary.
- Work early mornings, late nights, and weekends as required.
- Engage in occasional public speaking.
- Understand and apply Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
- Identify and meet the needs of program participants.
Requirements
- Minimum of 16 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
- Evidence of a physical examination within the last 12 months.
- Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and 40 lbs frequently (children).
- Strong oral communication skills.
Schedule
Will sometimes require early morning, late night, and weekend work.
