About the role
The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting and consulting the Store Manager regarding overall operations and administrative duties, including determining the methods and approaches necessary to accomplish the store’s goals. The Assistant Manager is knowledgeable in each product area or department in the store, upholds policies and procedures, and is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and promoting merchandise. The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence and is trained in Store Manager responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett | City Gear.
- Consult with Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Assist the Store Manager in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Maintain quality customer service.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and train in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service, including assisting customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett | City Gear.
- Uphold all Hibbett | City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as outlined in company manuals and memos.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and meet overall goals and profits.
- Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
- Team-player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
