About the Role

Provides a security presence at the school complex by walking around the facility, monitoring activities and students, and reporting unauthorized personnel to the school office.

Responsibilities

• Monitors campus activities to ensure student safety, including identifying safety violations, diffusing student conflicts, and reinforcing positive social behavior.
• Performs minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to maintain a litter-free and hazard-free environment.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D., or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.

Licensing

• Depending on assignment, may require completion of Crossing Guard training.
• Fingerprint clearance card required as a condition of employment (instructions provided upon hire).

Knowledge

• Basic safety and security principles, practices, equipment, and procedures.
• Customer service principles.

Skills

• Recognizing potential security risks.
• Providing customer service.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.

Physical Requirements

• Positions typically require reaching, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
• Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. Primarily involves sitting, with occasional walking or standing.

Pay

Return-to-work retirees will receive an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than the standard rate, without falling below minimum wage.
