About the role

Provides a security presence at the school complex to ensure the safety of students, staff, and campus facilities.

Responsibilities

• Walks around the facility and monitors activities and students.
• Reports the presence of unauthorized personnel to the school office.
• Monitors campus activities to identify safety violations, diffuse situations among students, and reinforce positive social behavior.
• Performs minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to maintain a safe, litter-free environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D., or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
• Ability to complete Crossing Guard training (if required for assignment).
• Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).

Knowledge

• Basic safety and security principles, practices, equipment, and procedures.
• Customer service principles.

• Recognizing potential security risks.
• Providing customer service.
• Communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.

Physical Requirements

• Positions typically require reaching, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
• Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking and standing.

Return-to-work retirees will have an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed without falling below minimum wage.
