About the role
As the School Age Assistant Manager, you will work alongside your peers to support, encourage, and develop Youth Leaders as they deliver daily enrichment clubs, academic support, and recreational activities for school-age children (K–6th grade).
Responsibilities
- Manage scheduling and time-off requests for your assigned program pods.
- Ensure program sites and classrooms are always within ratio; develop staffing plans and communicate those plans to the School Age Program Manager.
- Support Youth Leaders in remaining compliant with all Child Care Licensing rules and regulations.
- Conduct monthly program observations; report findings to the School Age Program Manager and provide coaching and feedback to staff.
- Develop and maintain schedules for clubs, enrichment activities, and homework support across all classrooms.
- Help train and orient new staff, in collaboration with Mentors and the School Age Program Manager.
- Serve in a direct-service role (leading clubs or supervising children) for a set number of hours each week.
- Support the School Age Program Manager in executing any disciplinary or corrective action with staff.
- Uphold all licensing rules, program standards, and Neighborhood House policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education, Child & Family Studies, Youth Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in afterschool or youth programs.
- Valid Utah Driver’s License.
- First Aid and CPR Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Valid Food Handler’s Permit (or ability to obtain).
- Pass Child Care Licensing Background Check.
- Pass a drug test.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Must speak, read, and write English fluently; bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Qualifications
